Thematic Knowledge Exchange: Open Training Session on Wildfires – Jointly organised by MIP4Adapt and REGILIENCE+

Wildfires are becoming an increasingly significant challenge across Europe due to rising temperatures, prolonged drought periods, changing land-use patterns, and the growing vulnerability of landscapes and communities. Their impacts extend beyond burned areas, affecting ecosystems, biodiversity, infrastructure, local economies, and the safety and well-being of citizens.

Addressing wildfire risks requires a shift from primarily reactive responses towards integrated prevention, preparedness, and adaptation strategies. This includes improving access to reliable data, strengthening governance frameworks and incentives that enable risk reduction measures, supporting coordinated and sustainable land management practices, and enhancing public awareness and community capacity to prepare for and respond to wildfire events.

This second Open Training Session (OTS), jointly organised by MIP4Adapt and REGILIENCE+, will bring together RLAs, practitioners, researchers, and other stakeholders involved in climate resilience to exchange knowledge and experiences on wildfire solutions from different perspectives, including governance, incentives, land management, community-based approaches, and preparedness.
